American Indian Horse

The American Indian Horse is not strictly a breed but a type of horse of American Indian Horse breed infoSpanish origin that has adapted to the specific environment of the United States (with the help of man in some cases) . On behalf of American Indian Horse does not apply to a specific race but every race equine able to live in a geographical area in the high plains of the Middle West or the swamps of the south.

The history of the American Indian Horse differs by region of the United States concerned. Its origin seems to be among Arabian horses imported into Spain, which formed by successive crosses with Barb and Andalusian ancestors of the Iberian horses brought to the Americas by the conquistadors in the sixteenth century.
The Registry of the American Indian Horse, established in 1961, has created five categories of horses:
Class A reserved for unknown pedigrees, like horses Bureau of Land Management.
Class AA with at least 50% of pedigree traceable to the horses of the Native American tribes.
M class for horses of the modern type, such as Quarter Horses and Appaloosas.
Class O for horses with an origin that refers directly to Indian tribes
P reserved for ponies of Indian type.
