American Paint Horse

The American Paint Horse is a spotted horse breed, which has its origins in the American Quarter Horse. His descendants were used as monochromatic Breeding Stock, now known as Solid Paint Bred Horse. In the 1960s, the American Paint Horse Association was founded.

The American Paint Horse is distinguished by a small, wedge-shaped head, with a keen eye, broad forehead, small, movable ears, small, firm mouth and strong batch jowls. The neck is sufficiently long and slender, set well, clear cut in the throat and moving the neck, the shoulder is at an angle and, as the chest, muscled, and the withers are well defined.

The short back is an excellent connection to the hindquarters, the loin is deep and strong, and the hip is oblique and long, the entire hind legs very muscular. The foundation is clear, sinewy, wiry, with solid hoofs.
Despite its only average size of about 1.42 to 1.58 m carries the Paint Horse and adults with a heavy Western saddle heavyweight in any terrain. The horses are bred deliberately not larger, because larger horses can usually the “typical agility and breed type are missing.”

Paint Horses are not to be confused with the Pinto – the latter are not a race, but may originate from different breeds and crosses. Allerding is a Paint Horse Paint Horse only if it in the American Paint Horse Association is registered. Paint Horses are pure bred horses, with all the positive characteristics of this breed, crossbreeding are authorized only to the American Quarter Horse, and the English thoroughbred.
Paint Horses are very versatile. Its strengths are short races (the quarter mile is the classic distance), the Working Ranch (cowboy horses) and the Westernreitdisziplinen as Reining, Cutting, Working Cowhorse, Western Pleasure, Trail, etc.

The Paint Horse is identical with the breed of American Quarter Horses in origin, type, properties, pedigrees and breeding goal. It is, therefore, at Western Horses – compact, agile horses, medium height, with strongly pronounced musculature, powerful hindquarters and honest, good-natured character.

Paint Horses are easy to ride, willing and nerves and are a matter for the tournament, walking, hiking and Western riding. The Paint Horse, but also has the Cow Sense, just like the quarter horse.

Solid Paint Bred Horses Paint Horses are monochromatic. In contrast to the mottled-colored foal will be a Paint Horse mare, due to its colorful predecessors (which go on in their genes) are not registered as an American Quarter Horse, but as a so-called Solid Paint Bred.

These Solid Paint Bred Horses are allowed to compete only in specially advertised Solid Paint Bred classes (SPB classes) and advertised accordingly tournament classes.
